You have to hear it to believe it

Front House Management  Karen Michelle sits down with CEO Noel Lee of Monster products to discuss the 37 years of innovation and its most recent BEATrayed lawsuit against Dr. Dre for selling his headphones to Apple for $3 Billion dollars and the creator Noel Lee walks away with $0. It was more than a pleasure to sit down with another genius to discuss marketing strategies for a well known product that launched Beats by Dr.Dre in 2008; says Karen Michelle.14656428_1746630428935524_6247562629828666076_n

Noel Lee’s career took place in 2007 in Santa Monica, CA in the inside of his garage later to discover a successful company called Monster that made and sold high-end speaker cables.

Many would say that Beats by Dr. Dre are overpriced and overrated when it comes to the quality. I would have to agree, maybe this was a blessing in disguise for CEO Noel Lee and his distinguish team to create a product as such that allows us to hear music the way it was meant to be heard.

These past two years Karen has spent time reviewing their new products and becoming a freelance ambassador for Monster as they search for a new identity.

Monster recently made a few appearances on one of the most watched shows; Empire. The 24 Kart headphones will be a killer this Christmas along with a few others. Talk about14717215_1746613228937244_8417564198670627765_n detail and quality! Karen Michelle is known for her experience in the fashion industry, and to be able to give her opinion on these fashionable headphones is priceless. Monster also just announced the blaster Boom Box, this Boom Box will take you  back as far as the early  70’s when we use to carry our music on the shoulder bouncing our heads to Grandmaster flash while walking up and down the streets in our community.

So if you’re asking yourself, Do we support Monster? Yes, we support a company that has dignity and speaks against domestic violence as we recently learned about Dr. Dre’s history of domestic violence in the beginning of his career. I’m not to sure I would want to wear a brand on my ears, better yet around my neck that symbolize something so negative. I can’t deny Dre’s talent in the music industry as a trail blazer, but at the same time I don’t stand for domestic violence. Dr. Dre you may have had a lot of support back then, but since the truth is out, its time for a new sound, and a pure sound. I AM MONSTER!

Meet our 2016 Shades of Success Gala Keynote Speaker

ANITA HAWKINS

Lifestyle Expert Extraordinaire, entrepreneur, model, author and philanthropist, Anita Hawkins is the perfect combination of brains, beauty and fierce determination to succeed at whatever she sets out to accomplish.

RWC_3963

Anita grew up in Gary, Indiana, where her entrepreneurial spirit took flight when she was still in her teens. Upon inheriting her grandmother’s hair salon, Anita did what very few young women her age would have had the insight and resolve to do…she worked it! After getting her cosmetology license, Anita grew her clientele by operating both in the salon and going house to house servicing clients who were unable to travel to her location. This was to be the first of many successful business ventures for the tiny young woman with big dreams. Dreams she would manage to accomplish in spite of having her childhood and youthful innocence shattered at an early age when she was molested by her older brother for a period of years beginning in the 2nd grade. This unimaginable violation sent Anita down a devastating path of promiscuity and self-doubt that resulted in teen pregnancy, becoming a ward of the state after her father disowned her, and ultimately, she was tasked with the incredible challenge of building a life for herself and her infant son all by age fifteen. It was the love and generosity of a family friend who took Anita in and cared for her son free of charge that enabled her to continue her high school education and begin to build a life for herself and her son.

By 2000, Anita had married, and she and her husband, former MLB pitcher LaTroy Hawkins moved to Frisco, TX where they had a daughter. In 2006, she launched Trokar Industries, LLC. Since its inception, Trokar has acquired a number of land developments around the state of Texas and celebrated a tremendous victory in September 2014 when D.R. Horton purchased a parcel of land from Trokar for 1.53 million dollars.

After being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Anita decided it was time to make some lifestyle changes of her own. Her love of healthy eating and exercise led to her acquisition of the Fresh Healthy Café franchise master for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area which she operates under Lady Eloise, LLC. Restaurant ownership had always been a desire for the mother of two, and after doing a great deal of research, she decided upon the Fresh Healthy Café brand because of the company’s commitment to values that mirrored her own philosophies. Anita celebrated the opening of the flagship location in Prosper in October 2015 with lines out the door during lunch and dinner hours! Her tenacity and business savvy has not gone without notice. Anita was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women for Outstanding Excellence and Dedication to Her Profession and the Advancement of Women and was named one of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals’ prestigious Women of Distinction. In 2015, she was named by 10 Shades of Success as one of Dallas’ Most Successful Women.

Anita is as abundant in beauty as she is in business know-how. As a model and spokesperson, Anita has walked the runway in a number of high fashion events including MegaFest 2015, Designer’s Rack at Neiman Marcus where she donned Pray by percy ray, Grace the Runway benefiting Simply Grace at the Women’s Museum at Fair Park in Dallas and the ShonDanz Entertainment’s Runway Extravaganza wearing show-stopping designs by Andre Terry.  In November 2014, she graced the cover of Curvy Connect Magazine (CCM) and was featured in a dazzling seven-page editorial spread. CCM rightfully dubbed Anita “The One to Watch” in 2015!  She has also been featured on Dallas’ CW 33, FOX 4, Dallas High Life TV on the UA Network, Saigon Network’s The Chau Show, KRNB 105.7, K104 FM, Heaven 97, KRLD Talk Radio’s CEO Spotlight, Street Speaker Radio and The Andy Brown Online Happy Hour with editorial features in The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Weekly, Southern Dallas County Magazine and Texas Metro News.  She also participated in the panel discussion “Turning Passion into Profit” during Full Figured Fashion Week in New York. Most recently, she was named Duchess of the Krewe de Etoiles 2016 Gala Masquerade Ball Royal Court.

With her tremendous success, Anita has not forgotten the age-old proverb, to whom much is given, much is required.  Generous does not begin to describe the dedication and hands-on involvement with which Anita supports her many charitable affiliations. She walks for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and is one of the organization’s top individual and team fundraisers and serves as a member on the Frisco planning committee for the charity. She gathers and donates items throughout the year for Where are You? which benefits homeless children and their families in the Dallas area. In January 2015, Anita began her tenure on the Board of Directors for Minnie’s Food Pantry and has donated over $100,000 to the organization and its mission to feed the homeless. In November, Minnie’s presented Anita with the Community Service Award for her leadership and commitment to the organization. Annually, she and her husband sponsor the college education of a deserving student to the school of their choice through the Jackie Robinson Foundation.  In 2014, she launched the Find One Reason to Smile campaign benefiting survivors of domestic abuse. The first recipient, Dallas’ Women Called Moses Outreach Center, received over $16,000 from Find One Reason to Smile to aid their mission of assisting women and their children to escape the vicious cycle of domestic abuse. She also serves as a board member for the Source of Hope. One of their many community events includes providing free meals, haircuts and shaves to the homeless on the fourth Saturday of every month. Anita loves putting her salon and barber skills to work for those in need!

Destined for greatness and not slowing down anytime soon, Anita has added another title to her already impressive repertoire…author. Anita chronicles her rise from the depths of abuse, anger and despair to triumph, self-love and success in her debut novel The Storm After The Storm released last year. Today, Anita Hawkins is both self-assured and selfless. She has overcome the harshest of circumstances to become a successful businesswoman, lifestyle expert and fashionista while giving back to those in need and most importantly being a dedicated wife and mother to her family. “Curvy Connect said it best, Anita has definitely been the One to Watch and will be for many years to come!

O Dior, Dior, wherefore art thou Dior?

IMG_8084The Grand opening of Dior Highland Park Village was an event you shouldn’t have missed. It was a beautiful day here in Dallas, Texas; with temperatures at 68 degrees, there was no better day to have some of Dallas’ most fabulous women come out on the scene to enjoy a makeover and bubbly at the new Dior cosmetic boutique.

As I walked into the store, I was greeted with a southern hospitality welcome by the staff and offered a glass of champagne; now what girl turns down a glass of bubbly in the middle of the day! Although, the store is somewhat on the small side, the traffic flow was managed well for guest to feel comfortable and to enjoy the evening.

You can only expect the best here in Dallas, TX, as I received a tour of the spa area in the back of the store; I’m going to bet this room was designed with pure luxury in mind for each custIMG_8079omer to have their own personal in-store spa experience.

Before the evening ended my good friend Christian lles made it a priority to wave his magic wand across my face. By all means I’m not a makeup artist but I appreciate the fact that he took time out to show me how to do a smoky eye. Christian added the finishing touches to my look with the Dior skin air flash spray foundation, I was sold!

Now it’s time to give! The first follower to like and share this story from our Front House Management page will receive a complimentary Dior Institut facial compliment of Dior.

Next time you’re in the area drop into the Christian Dior boutique located at 9A Highland Park Village, Dallas, Texas 75205; ask for Christian lles and tell him Karen Michelle sent you!

Entrepreneur, model and philanthropist, Anita Hawkins is the perfect combination of brains, beauty and fierce determination to succeed at whatever she sets out to accomplish. Anita Hawkins Headshot

In 2000, Anita moved to Prosper, TX with her husband and children, and in 2006, she launched Trokar Industries, LLC. The company was born out of her dissatisfaction with the builder hired to construct her dream home. When they failed to execute the job correctly, Anita did what she does best, took control of her own destiny, acquired her general contractor’s license and got it done! Since its inception, Trokar has acquired a number of land developments around the state of Texas and celebrated a tremendous victory in September 2014 when D.R. Horton purchased a parcel of land from Trokar in North Texas for 1.53 million dollars.

Most recently, Anita established Lady Eloise, LLC, under which she operates her new healthy lifestyle restaurant franchise Fresh Healthy Café. Restaurant ownership has always been a desire for the mother of two, and after doing a great deal of research, she decided upon the Fresh Healthy Café brand because of the company’s commitment to values that mirrored her own philosophies. The first of 10 Metroplex locations will open for business in Prosper in July 2015.  Her tenacity and business savvy has not gone without notice. In 2014, Anita was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women for Outstanding Excellence and Dedication to Her Profession and the Advancement of Women and was named one of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals’ prestigious Women of Distinction.

Anita is as abundant in beauty as she is in business know-how. As a model and spokesperson, Anita has walked the runway in a number of high fashion events including Designer’s Rack at Neiman Marcus where she donned Pray by percy ray, Grace the Runway benefiting Simply Grace at the Women’s Museum at Fair Park in Dallas and the ShonDanz Entertainment’s Runway Extravaganza wearing show-stopping designs by Andre Perry.  In November, she graced the cover of Curvy Connect Magazine (CCM) and was featured in a dazzling seven-page editorial spread. CCM rightfully dubbed Anita “The One to Watch” in 2015!  She has also been featured on Dallas’ CW 33, Dallas High Life TV on the UA Network, Saigon TV’s The Chau Show, KRNB 105.7, K104 FM, Street Speaker Radio and The Andy Brown Online Happy Hour with editorial features in The Dallas Weekly, Texas Metro News and Dallas Morning News Online.

With her tremendous success, Anita has not forgotten the age-old proverb, to whom much is given, much is required.  Generous does not begin to describe the dedication and hands-on involvement with which Anita supports her many charitable affiliations. She walks for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and was one of the organization’s top individual and team fundraisers in November and serves as a member on the Frisco planning committee for the charity. Most recently, she launched the Find One Reason to Smile campaign benefiting Dallas’ Women Called Moses domestic abuse outreach center.  Via Indiegogo, Anita is working to raise $25,000 for the organization that assists women and their children in escaping the vicious cycle of domestic abuse.

Destined for greatness and not slowing down anytime soon, Anita has added another title to her already impressive repertoire…author.  She is looking forward to the 2015 release of her debut novel “Storm After the Storm.”  Based on aspects of her own life, the book chronicles the struggles and ultimate triumph of the title character Storm.  Today, Anita Hawkins is both self-assured and selfless. She has overcome the harshest of circumstances to become a successful businesswoman and fashionista while giving back to those in need and most importantly being a dedicated wife and mother to her family. Curvy Connect said it best, Anita is definitely the One to Watch in 2015 and many years to come!

After 20 years of selling fine jewelry and fashion accessories at luxury images (3)retailers, Charmaine Marshall is turning heads with her own bold and daring collection of jewelry designs.

Her clients are the center of attention when they wear Charmaine’s eye-catching bracelets, necklaces and earrings. This “wearable art” is anything but understated. Her hand-crafted designs draw on the colors and textures of nature, incorporating rare stones, feathers, wood, antique African brass, coral and other exotic elements.

While her one-of-a-kind pieces may evoke images of trophies taken on safari or artifacts from an expedition, Charmaine Marshall Designs conveys strength and a polished beauty that stand out in settings from fashion runways to society galas.

Charmaine’s ability to tastefully blend rough-hewn materials into fine jewelry worthy of a museum display case is founded, in part, on her extensive industry background, which includes certifications from the Gemological Institute of America in Diamonds and Diamond Grading.

Her expertise was complemented by years of customer service at leading retailers such as Tiffany & Co., De Beers Diamond Jewellers, William Noble and Neiman Marcus, where she learned the jewelry market from the perspective of a discerning clientèle.

Her talent as a creator of exquisite jewelry was recognized in 2011 when she was a Top 10 Finalist in the Texas’ Next Top Designer competition. Watch for the latest media coverage, trunk shows and other events by following Charmaine on Facebook and Twitter; and shop the collection to make your own stunning fashion statement.

LeTitia Calhoun-Smith

What is homelessness? LeTitia didn’t know the answer to this question until she actually became homeless. For the first time in her life, her eyes were opened to a community of people who went largely unnoticed and misunderstood by society. Questions began to arise in her mind as she saw groups of individuals walking with bags in the middle of the night. She saw this from a front row view in her car (while Homeless). Her number one question was, “Where are they going? “How do people live like this?” This question birthed the words for her single Where Are You?

During this difficult but awakening process, she experienced the physical and emotional challenges of not having a place to go; however, she felt the presence of God through it all. She became keenly aware that you can be homeless your whole life…searching for your place, purpose, and living unstable day to day. As her circumstances shifted, the opportunity came for her to redesign a recording studio and then complete the writing and production process of her song with national Gospel recording artist, Fred Hammond.

She is committed to standing against people not having a place to go. Her passion to reach this group of people flowed out of her as she could not contain her desire to speak out with the song and find shelter for the homeless. She knew this was her purpose. Doors began to open for her to spread the word on how to help. She is also committed to using her gifts and her voice to draw awareness to these people who feel abandoned and alone daily, people who need hope and a hand.

The organization naturally sprung forth after the completion of the song and the regular Homeless events. She has been on this mission at full speed ever since, hosting events like baby showers for pregnant Homeless women, a pajama drive, and a back-to-school rally for Homeless youth. She desires to raise awareness and hope for this invisible group of people while collecting necessities and building resources of help for them. She realizes she may not be able to eliminate Homelessness, but she is willing to shake the world and get others involved in addressing the needs of the Homeless. She is in the process of finding locations to create a place for the Homeless to go at anytime all over the world.

A NEW BEGINING FOR FASHION WEEK

UntitledI recently stumbled across this article from WWD, about the changes that have been made for the upcoming Mercedes Benz New York/ Miami Fashion week.

http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-features/img-sets-fashion-week-changes-7262947

After years of IMG being the front of the house management company for fashion week , they have been released as of last week. I had to pick my face up off the floor when I found out about the new changes. Last July during Miami Fashion Week, was when FHM CEO Karen Michelle had a chance to rub elbows with a few IMG employees; so it was a hard pill to swallow when the news came across.

400371_2952830660716_1307788609_n

The article got better! The article stated that LDJ Productions will be taking over Fashion Week this upcoming season. How exciting is that!? LDJ productions has always  been a near and dear friend to Karen Michelle for some years now. I can honestly say that they have the most amazing production team I’ve seen thus far and will face the challenges this coming season with flying colors. People say change can be a headache, but this will be nothing but growing pains (Good growing pains) for the company it self.

We’re always looking forward to another successful season of Fashion Week here at FHM!

Cheers and Congrats to LDJ Productions!

Publicist vs. Designers: Why pro bono shouldn’t be in your budget.

I ran across this article today with Daily Front Row about Peoples Revolution Kelly Cutrone pulling the plug on designer David Tlael due to no payment for NYFW show. Designers what are you thinking?Kelly-Cutrone-Feet-276840
As a company that specializes in publicity and production, a designer not paying or not wanting to pay is the norm and the deepest end of disrespect. Designers have come to believe that a PR company’s job is to bring the press, media, and key people to their event without paying a dime; which we label as pro bono and that should never be in an emerging/ established designer’s budget.
Designers need to understand that if you want a successful show with the proper acknowledgement you have to pay the cost to boss that moment up. Never expect anyone to set the stage and foundation for your long term career in the fashion world as a designer without paying your dues.

Kelly Cutrone is admired by a few but also hated by many. You can’t hate her for what she has built for years and the sacrifices she has made. It is not easy starting a PR company from the ground up; there will be days that you want to throw the towel in and walk away from it all. Don’t think for a minute that a freelance publicist doesn’t invest their own person money into their business.
As a designer you need to know your place and know there is a fine line with mutual respect when working with a PR company.

Top five things to keep in mind when you need PR services:20100311_whitneyeve_560x375

1. Have a budget.
2. Be prepared to go over your budget when you begin to wanting more.
3. Know your place.
4. Our time is valuable
5. Pay on time with no remaining balance the day of your show.

From A-Z: Fighting a rare disease and taking a backseat to the Fashion world.

February 2013, FHM’s very own Karen Michelle never saw something so drastic coming. It all begin suddenly when her health turned for the worst and the doctor’s ordered her to take a backseat to her career in the fashion world.  Model Noe L & Karen Michelle @ private event February 2013

As time went by “The Celebrity Fashion Experience” vol. 5 was in the works. Sadly to say that the show didn’t take place after Karen Michelle was hospitalized with an unknown diagnosis that would have her down for four months.

It wasn’t until July 2013, Karen Michelle was diagnosis with a rare disease called “Sarcoidosis”. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body, but mostly the lungs and lymph glands. In people with Sarcoidosis, abnormal masses or nodules (called granulomas) consisting of inflamed tissues form in certain organs of the body. These granulomas may alter the normal structure and possibly the function of the affected organs.  http://www.webmd.com/lung/arthritis-Sarcoidosis

Life was changing right before Karen Michelle’s eyes with a massive loss of weight within a four month period of 130lbs, loss of appetite, depression, loss of muscle, multiple surgeries and most of all not being able do what she loves; Fashion production.

As Karen continues her recovery, she has taken time to tweak a few things with FHM and her swimwear line that received amazing reviews last year at the “Celebrity Fashion Experience”. Keep a look out for the many changes and the renaming of Key swimwear.

We miss you too Gwen!

For the past two seasons, we haven’t seen that bright bubbly spirit backstage during New York Fashion Week. Could’ve it been Gwen making music with some old friends? Front House Management will definitely be front row and center for the fabulous new 2013 Fall collection of L.A.M.B.

With a recent album drop with No Doubt and gracing two major fashion power house magazines within months of each other all while running a fashion line, Gwen seems to be make a noticeable come back.

The First Lady Wows Again in Jason Wu

The First Lady Wows Again in Jason WuUntitled

In 2009, everyone was excited about Jason Wu’s debut on the First Lady. She wore a beautiful white dress to the 2009 Inaugural Ball that featured sparkly white frilly detailing. Michelle Obama wowed us again wearing a gorgeous red halter styled gown with chiffon details by the same designer. With her hairstyle (I want bangs!) and a great pair of Jimmy Choos, this dress complimented her skin and hit her body in all the right places. For simple jewelry, she added staked sparkled bracelets and a custom ring designed by Kimberly McDonald.

At the Inaugural ceremony, Michelle wore a navy neck-tie inspired coat and dress by the designer Thom Browne who is known for his menswear designs. She accented the coat with a J. Crew belt, gloves and shoes. Malia and Sasha also look stylish in Kate Spade and J. Crew.
Her style is classic and wonderfully put together. The mix of a high profile designer with an affordable clothing brand always makes the perfect ensemble.

Make sure you blow in…The Dry Bar that is!

imagesCAHETKXKThe dry bar in North park has been open for some time now and I hope you’ve had a chance to blow in for an amazing blowout. The Dry bar is going to be one of my hot spots this year, right along with the Ritz Carlton.

I experienced my first blow out early last year by my favorite hair-stylist expert Blu Chappell, every since that day I’ve gone natural. I couldn’t be any happier with switching over, especially with having a busy schedule.  You can’t beat a 30-minute hair appointment for $35 anywhere.

So, next time you’re wonder who does my hair and why it has so much volume; drop into the dry bar at North Park and visit my personal hair stylist Blu Chappell.

Two Stellar Collections From Miami Swim 2013

The popular Brazil brand Cia.Martima showed a beautiful collection of designs adorned with embellishments such as lace, embroidery, and beading at this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 held in Miami. Inspiration for the collection comes from sensuous South America. As one would expect the collection, designed by Benny Rosset, did not disappoint. Sitting second row at the show was our own FHM CEO, Karen Michelle.

The presentation at  Mara Hoffman became so steamy fire marshals were sent out to the scene. Capacity reached its limits keeping us at FHM from our cherished seats at the show.

The collection rightfully titled “Desert Outlaw Gypsies” included an array of designs decorated in vibrant Aztec prints, beautiful lattice detailing, and beading. The show exuded tribal fantasy as models took to the runway adorned with feather tattoos by Cindy Dalagelis along the back of their legs. Models walked the runway wearing eclectic metal jewelry designed by Pamela Love and sported braided, windswept hair.

The Runways Are Heating Up At Miami Fashion Week

With so many fabulous new designers showcasing collections at this year’s Miami Swim Week, Front House Management is having a whirlwind of an experience. The collections have been incredible so far and there are still more for us to view.

The sixth-annual ‘Summer Splash’ Event, hosted by Cosmopolitan en español, took place on Wednesday, July 18 beginning with a cocktail reception by Ciroc and Peroni. The event took place in celebration of 40 years and held a private runway show at the Soho Beach House that included designs by Barraca Chic, Eberjey, Luli Fama, Maya Swimwear, Samsara Imports by designer Lissette Atassi and Zingara. Many celebrities were in attendance at the event.

A handful of designers including Poko Pano by Paola Robba, Sinesia Karol, and Lila Nikole Collection by Lila Nikole Rivera showcased designs this past Friday, July 20.

Poko Pano by Paola Robba showcased a 40-piece collection for SS2013. The inspiration for the collection came from the city of Salvador. The looks presented in the showcase were infused with the culture of the city gaining inspiration from street artist Bel Bora to Copoeira.

The collection is a reflection of the tropical colors found in Salvador, combining vibrant shades of blue, orange, red, green, pink, yellow and gold. The prints used for the collection came from the influence of flowers, tropical Hibiscus and coconut trees of the region.

The unveiling of Brazilian designer Sinesia Karol’s collection took place at the Soho Beach house. In attendance at the show were more than 300 guests including top buyers, socialites, and national media. The presentation, consisting of 35 looks, received magnificent reviews from everyone.

The collection was inspired by the great diversity found in the orchids of Brazil. The collection is both laid back and sophisticated with embellishments of metal and gold hardware.

Designer Lila Nikole Rivera of Lila Nikole Collection presented a showcase of designs inspired by Ultra Music Festival. Her collection titled “Electrika” took place at the recently opened nightclub, Bamboo Miami.

The collection, modeled by the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, was shown on a hydraulic stage where mapped graphics were displayed. The stage gave a 3-D illusion and created the feeling of being in attendance at the festival.

The popular Brazil brand Cia.Martimea showed a beautiful collection of designs adorned with embelishments such as lace, embroidery, and beading. Inspiration for this years collection comes from sensuous South America. As one would expect the collection, designed by Benny Rosset, did not disapoint. Sitting second row at the show was our own FHM CEO, Karen Michelle.
