What is homelessness? LeTitia didn’t know the answer to this question until she actually became homeless. For the first time in her life, her eyes were opened to a community of people who went largely unnoticed and misunderstood by society. Questions began to arise in her mind as she saw groups of individuals walking with bags in the middle of the night. She saw this from a front row view in her car (while Homeless). Her number one question was, “Where are they going? “How do people live like this?” This question birthed the words for her single Where Are You?
During this difficult but awakening process, she experienced the physical and emotional challenges of not having a place to go; however, she felt the presence of God through it all. She became keenly aware that you can be homeless your whole life…searching for your place, purpose, and living unstable day to day. As her circumstances shifted, the opportunity came for her to redesign a recording studio and then complete the writing and production process of her song with national Gospel recording artist, Fred Hammond.
She is committed to standing against people not having a place to go. Her passion to reach this group of people flowed out of her as she could not contain her desire to speak out with the song and find shelter for the homeless. She knew this was her purpose. Doors began to open for her to spread the word on how to help. She is also committed to using her gifts and her voice to draw awareness to these people who feel abandoned and alone daily, people who need hope and a hand.
The organization naturally sprung forth after the completion of the song and the regular Homeless events. She has been on this mission at full speed ever since, hosting events like baby showers for pregnant Homeless women, a pajama drive, and a back-to-school rally for Homeless youth. She desires to raise awareness and hope for this invisible group of people while collecting necessities and building resources of help for them. She realizes she may not be able to eliminate Homelessness, but she is willing to shake the world and get others involved in addressing the needs of the Homeless. She is in the process of finding locations to create a place for the Homeless to go at anytime all over the world.
